Water
Policy
The
following policy has been formulated by the above Association in keeping with
the current climatic conditions and the ongoing drought resulting in a serious depletion of water sources, and the community’s
perception, not entirely untrue, that endurance riding is a very high user and
at times wasteful of this precious commodity.
Nanango is subject to level 5 water
restrictions, the water used at this event will be sourced from the town water
supply. The Council has allowed the use of this water on the above provisos.
Riders are welcome to bring their own water supplies, however this same policy
will apply to all comers
It
is therefore incumbent on all participants of endurance rides conducted by this
Association to follow the standards set to stop the negligent waste of water.
Policy
1. At individual camps or crewing areas containers with a holding
capacity of not more than the size of the standard blue tub (
80 litres) be used per check
point per horse.
2. Horses may only be
strapped or cooled down using a bucket and dipper, (or
sponges) the dipper limited to a 2 litre capacity.
3. The use of battery powered sprays are permitted.
4. The practice of throwing large (and small) buckets of water
over horses is strictly forbidden.
5. The use of hoses connected to mains
pressure taps at the showgrounds for the use of strapping/cooling horses is
strictly forbidden.
6.
7. Any person/s seen to be using hoses and large spray units will
have this equipment confiscated
Riders and associated crew who do not adhere to this policy, or who blatantly disregards this policy will be dealt with at the discretion of this Committee.
